Husband and wife hurt in car accident

A married couple were injured after a soldier's car crashed into their vehicle.

Bradley West told a witness to the accident that he had just had a long journey and was tired.

West, 22, of HM Forces Cottesmore, Oakham, Leicester, who was accused of driving without due care and attention, was not present at court but was found guilty of the offence in his absence.

He was fined £440 with £85 costs plus £44 victims’ surcharge and had six motoring penalty points put on his driving licence by Blackpool magistrates.

Prosecutor, Jim Mowbray, said West was driving a Peugeot 206 when he turned right into the path of the married couple’s car on Common Edge Road on December 23 about 5pm.

The wife suffered shoulder and knee injuries. The husband injured his shoulders and chest.
