Police want to identify a woman, pictured, in connection with the theft, which happened inside Aldi, in St Annes, on August 11 at around 10am.

A police spokesman said: "The circumstances are that the purse was left in the packing area - then a woman picked it up, made no attempt to hand it into staff and walked out of the store with it.

"Although bank cards contained in the purse have been handed into a local bank, the purse is of high sentimental value as the victim has lost a very sentimental photo of her beloved dog which she had for more than 10 years and had died recently."
