A man needed stitches after being hit over the head with a bottle in a vicious attack in Blackpool town centre.

Detectives are working to track down a “souped up” red car used by two thugs with scarves covering their faces who followed the victim down South King Street at around 9.30pm on Tuesday.

Somebody will know that car

They both attacked the man, in his 50s, before getting back into the vehicle and leaving the scene.

Police say the car – a red hatchback with a black bonnet, white wheels, a sun roof and blacked out windows – pulled up outside the Blue Room before the men chased the victim down the street.

Det Con Steve Lucas, of Blackpool CID, said: “Somebody will know that car.

“Two men with scarves round their faces jumped out of the car and followed him.

“One of them hit him over the back of the head with a bottle and the other punched him.

“We don’t know if they were disturbed by the occupants of the address they were outside and ran off.”

The victim needed stitches for head injuries sustained in the attack. The men wore dark clothing and scarves, police said. Call Blackpool CID on 101, quoting log 1613 of September 1.
