Hundreds turn out for charity Big Toddle at Blackpool Zoo

More than 200 toddlers took over Blackpool Zoo for an annual charity event.

The Big Toddle returned to the attraction for its 16th year, raising money for Barnardo’s to support vulnerable children.

The theme for the half-mile sponsored walk, which took place on Tuesday, was ‘nature’ and several people taking part dressed up as animals and flowers.

There was also an appearance from popular children’s television character Tinky Winky, from the CBeebies show Teletubbies, which supported the event.

Barnardo’s regional relationships manager for the North West Helen Evans said: “We are so grateful to the hundreds of children and families that took part in this year’s Big Toddle at Blackpool Zoo.

"It was wonderful to see so many little ones dressed up and smiling away with their families and friends as they toddled along the route together."

Della Belk, marketing and PR manager at Blackpool Zoo, said: “This is the 16th year that we have supported Barnardo’s Big Toddle and it has been one of our most popular years yet.”
