Hundreds of runners are expected to take part in the Sheriff 10K on Sunday to raise cash for the Bottlestop charity.

The race is dedicated to Philip Sheriff, from Scorton, who died after being glassed with a broken bottle at a party in London in 2012.

Philip’s friend and Garstang fireman Chris Horner is the race organiser and he is hoping for a bumper turnout to boost funds to help Philip’s widow and race founder Jane.

The event, which forms part of the popular annual Bikes and Barrows Festival, starts with a fun run for children at 9.15am.

The main 10k event is at 10am. Both races start from outside The Barn in Scorton’s main street. Entry for the 10k road race, which takes a route out to Forton and back, costs £15 on the day.
