More than 700 homes and businesses in Preesall were left without electricity this morning.

Electricity North West said 709 properties lost power at around 9.47am when overhead powerlines went down in Carr Lane.

A spokeswoman said 629 had their power restored within two minutes, while the lights came back on for another 41 at around 10.30am.

Thirty-nine remain in the dark as engineers head to deal with the problem.

Their power is expected to be restored this afternoon.

“We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused,” the spokeswoman said.
