The company says candidates with proven management experience are being targeted for its managerial roles.

Ruth Doyle, Aldi regional managing director, said: “Aldi has seen significant growth in Lancashire over the last few years, which has put us in a position to recruit a substantial number of people in the local area.

“We’re looking to attract applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds, including supermarket, fast-food and clothing chains, who can demonstrate relevant retail experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.”

As well as experienced staff, the fast-growing discount retailer is taking on a number of apprentices.

Aldi store apprentices are trained in all aspects of retail management during their three-year course.

The scheme offers store assistant training in year one and store management training in years two and three with a g salary of £5.30 per hour rising to £7.63 per hour.

Successful apprentices will be offered a deputy manager position upon completion of the course, and can progress onto assistant store manager.
