Hotelier joins national board of business group

The Federation of Small Businesses, which has its headquarters in Blackpool at Squires Gate, has appointed Lancashire and Cumbria regional chairman Gary Lovatt to their National Board, following their 2017 Annual General Meeting.

Mr Lovatt will take his place as a director alongside amongst national chairman Mike Cherry and policy director Martin McTague.

The FSB provides services to and representation for small business-owners and entrepreneurs, and was recently credited with influencing Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond’s U-turn on National Insurance contributions hike for the self-employed.

Today Gary Lovatt said: “It is a privilege to be appointed to the FSB Board.

“I have been a member of FSB for many years and we continue to be an organisation which is led by our members.

“These are exciting times for us with the launch of new membership categories and innovative new services and I look forward to playing my part in helping to drive us forward.”

Mr Lovatt has been an FSB member for 18 years and has a background in financial services and runs a hotel with his wife.

Apart from his FSB commitments, he also sits on a number of boards for both the Lancashire and the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnerships, the Keswick Tourism Association and the European Structural Investment Fund for Lancashire.
