Firefighters used a harness to rescue a horse from a ditch.

Crews from South Shore and St Annes were called to help the distressed animal which had been trapped in the ditch on Moss House Road, Marton Moss, for around two hours after falling while it was grazing in a field.

The specialist rope rescue team from St Annes attached straps around the horse before pulling it to safety following the call out just after 11pm on Tuesday night.

It is believed the animal was ok following its ordeal.
