Plans for a new home on Marton Moss have been approved despite being partly on land set aside for public open space.

An application to build on land behind Moss House Road and accessed from Docky Pool Lane has been agreed by Blackpool town hall planners.

A report says the principle of residential development has already been agreed for the area as part of the wider housing scheme currently being built by Kensington Developments.

But it adds the “site provides part of the public open space provision for the wider Moss House Road development. However, this arrangement does not reflect a particular need for this particular site to be left clear for development.”

Planners say it would be up to the council to pursue Kensington Developments separately “in order to ensure adequate public open space in alternative locations is provided” to meet the needs of that scheme. Kensington has planning permission to build 422 homes in total on the Moss House Road site.
