"Everyone played superbly, won the competition and to top it off won best in my classification. Not bad for a weekend's work."

He was born with arthrogryposis, which causes curved joints in parts of the body. Before travelling to the Games, he paid tribute to the local NHS doctors and physios who have helped him stay fit and follow his passion for sport.

He said: "I was hugely lucky to have amazing physios.

“They also gave support to my folks (mum Joanna Pendered and dad Martyn Pearson) as well, and I know they can’t thank them enough.”
