Caped crusaders are set to become true heroes.
That’s because they are creating specially made capes for our Grin and Wear It day - part of our Hospice Heroes appeal.
We’re asking everyone on the Fylde Coast to dress up, or down, on February 14 to raise money for our campaign, supporting Trinity Hospice and Brian House children’s hospice.
And Keith Butcher, of Dragon’s Den fancy dress shop in Blackpool, is offering us the full proceeds of his Grin and Wear It capes.
Keith, 49, said: “We are proud of making a lot of our own costumes, and we do make a lot of superhero capes.
“When I read about Grin and Wear It in The Gazette I just thought this would be a good thing for us to be involved in, and what better way than to make up some special capes?
“We wouldn’t take any proceeds on the capes, so the full cost will go to Hospice Heroes - it’s a great cause for a great charity.”
Whether you’re dressing as superheroes for the day, wearing your pyjamas to school or just wearing casual clothes to work, why not don a cape to make the occasion truly heroic?
Keith has made the capes in light blue, yellow and two shades of pink, available in two sizes for children and adults.
They are available to buy at Dragon’s Den on Albert Road, Blackpool, for up to £9.95 - all of which will be donated to Hospice Heroes.
Trinity’s fundraising manager, Linzi Young, said: “What an amazing idea and such a generous thing to do.
“It proves that there are heroes all over the Fylde coast, willing to help the hospice achieve its goals.
“The Grin and Wear it day seems to be capturing people’s imagination and we have had lots of interest.
“We have people promising to wear fancy dress, football shirts, nightwear, bow ties and onesies. If everyone involved gave just £1 to the Hospice Heroes appeal, it would make such a difference.
“I think that February 14 is going to be a truly memorable occasion – we are really looking forward to it.”
We’re aiming to raise £200,00 for the Trinity and Brian House on Low Moor Road, Bispham, to help pay for a massive refurbishment which will make it fit for the future.
Our money will be put together with a grant of £280,000 from the Department of Health for the work.
