There are just a few days left for people to nominate their health heroes for The Gazette’s Patients’ Award at the NHS’s Celebrating Success event.

Already, there has been a large number of entries to the award, which honours the doctors, nurses and specialists working at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The award is just one of the trust’s Celebrating Success awards, which are being held later this year.

Last year breast cancer surgeon Pasupathy Kiruparan, known affectionately as Mr Kiri at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, came away winner of the award after he was nominated by patient Betty Crichton.

He said at the time: “I am very honoured to receive this award, but I just feel I am doing my job.

“I feel very surprised and honoured to be given this award.” he added.

As well as The Patients’ Award, six other awards will be presented at a celebration ball in November including Clinical and Non-Clinical Team of the Year, Employee of the Year and Radio Wave’s Unsung Hero.

The deadline for nominations is Friday. Call (01253) 303059.
