Entries are coming in thick and fast for this year’s Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10k Fun Run.

It’s just a week since we announced the opening of this year’s fun run, and already 350 people have signed up to take part – it’s the equivalent of 50 people a day entering the event.

Organisers Trinity Hospice say many of the runners are from the Fylde coast, but some will be coming from across the North West and beyond to take part.

Several large groups of people have also pledged their attendance.

Event organiser Collette Goodwin said: “We can safely say we have got off to a very brisk start.

“Entries are coming in online and in the post, and we have a team of volunteers helping process them. It has only been a week since our official launch, so to have 350 confirmed entries already is really encouraging.

“The Blackpool 10k is a huge event and draws interest from serious runners from all over the region but it’s fair to say that we are getting lots of entries from fun runners too. They help make the event the spectacle it is and for them it’s not the finish time that’s important, it’s taking part and helping the hospice.”

This year’s run will take place on Sunday, May 11 along the Promenade.

Organisers at Trinity, on Low Moor Road, Bispham, say they hope this year will see up to 3,000 people take part, whether they are serious runners or just coming along to give it a try.

The route starts at Blackpool’s Hilton Hotel and goes down to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and back.
