Talk about getting in the pink!

Grace and Favour and its Sewing Sanctuary, based at Marsh Mill, Thornton, became a pink paradise with a special evening to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The night was celebrating Grace and Favour’s third anniversary and included a pink sale – where women brought along a pink gift item to donate – guests from the Hint of Pink charity and a member of the breast care team from Blackpool Victoria Hospital, on hand to educate about breast cancer and answer questions.

A giant pink patchwork quilt, which had been created by a sewing group at the venue, dubbed The Patchwork Princesses, was raffled off.

Over the last few months, through various events, the venue has raised £1,200 to be shared between the Hug In A Bag charity and the hospital’s breast care unit.

Caroline Bramhall, from Grace and Favour, said: “It was a great evening.

“The Sewing Sanctuary was all decorated out in pink, so there was a real pink theme.

“It was really nice as we had a whole range of women and girls attending – right from youngsters upwards.

“Everyone brought something pink along with them for a lovely pink gift table.

“The ladies from the Hint of Pink charity, which supports the breast unit at the hospital, brought us a beautiful pink birthday cake.

“The quilt was absolutely fantastic. We raffled it off and it was won by a lady called Kim Madeley.

“One of the breast care nurses gave us a bit of education about checking breasts and answered questions, too, so that was great.

“We are now looking forward to planning a big Christmas market.”

The Christmas market will take place on Monday, November 23, from around 4pm, at Marsh Mill.

There will be a whole host of stalls selling a variety of items and gifts, the shops will be open late, Marsh Mill has donated an 18ft Christmas tree which will be put up with Christmas lights provided by Blackpool Council. There will be a hog roast, provided by Twelve Restaurant, Father Christmas will make an appearance and there will be entertainment and singing.
