An 82-year-old Blackpool man who crashed his car yesterday may have had a heart attack, police said.

The pensioner was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital after his Vauxhall Astra hit a parked Subaru Impreza in a car park close to the Halfords garage off Vicarage Lane, Marton, at around 11am.

He remained in a 'poorly but stable condition', police said. Passersby gave the man first aid before paramedics arrived, The Gazette understands.

Sgt Steve Hardman, from the Road Policing Unit, added: "We want to establish exactly what has happened.

"I am keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the driver in his vehicle prior to the collision, or ... witnessed the collision between the two vehicles."

Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting log reference 0413 of October 3.
