Drinkers on the Fylde coast are being asked to monitor their intake of alcohol to raise awareness of how much they are consuming.
Alcohol liaison nurses at Blackpool Victoria Hospital are urging people to keep a drinks diary to monitor the daily, weekly and monthly intake.
Nurse Julie Spencer-Bennett, said: “This December we’d like people to start keeping a drinks diary which an easy way to monitor how much you are drinking each day, week and month.
“I speak to many people who believe their alcohol use is at an acceptable level. However, when we look at their consumption together, they are often surprised to find that they are drinking well in excess of the daily recommended unit intake.”
The recommended maximum units of alcohol per day are three to four units for men and two to three for women.
