The Mayor of Fylde has extended his thanks to a community-minded pensioner whose fund-raising efforts brought in more than £500 for his chosen charities.

The Staining church window appeal, the Duke of Lancashire Regiment in Weeton, and St Annes RNLI’s Shannon lifeboat appeal will all benefit from the efforts of Hannah Peacock, 75, of Meadow Park, Staining (pictured).

She was invited to St Annes Town Hall last week to present a cheque for £450 to Coun John Singleton.

He said: “It all started on Remembrance Sunday when she crocheted some poppies for the walkway to the memorial. She continued crocheting them and sold them for the Mayor’s charities. She went through the village charging £2 each and she managed to sell £450.

“During the town hall event she raised another £135 making her total £585.

“The money is going to be equally spread between the three charities. I can’t thank her enough and she is going to receive an invitation to the Mayor’s Ball in March at Wrea Green Ribby Hall.”
