Great reaction to science firm's fun day

AGC Chemicals’ employees, friends, families and of course the company’s mascot – Simon the Scientist – enjoyed a sunny day full of fun and games at the Wyre Estuary Country Park in Thornton.

Children and parents participated in creative activities like origami, henna tattoos, sports challenges,natural plays and willow weaving in the sunshine during the event.

Traditional hog roast, refreshments, ice cream, live music and a magician were a few of the highlights enjoyed by children and adults alike.

By the end of the event AGC Chemicals had raised £350 from the raffle and donations.

An additional £77 was raised on the tombola provided by Streetlife, a youth work charity with the aim of assisting vulnerable young people in the Blackpool area.

AGC Chemicals donated the prizes; tickets for corporate hospitality at a Fleetwood Town Football match and a football shirt signed by the team.

Zuzanna Pietryja, from AGC, said: “AGC Chemicals prides itself on making a positive, beneficial impact on the local community and supports charities, provides after-school clubs with environmental themes and helps many local organisations.”

The Summer Fête is part of a programme offered by AGC Chemicals Europe in cooperation with Newground, including monthly after-school clubs with an environmental theme held at St. John’s, Breck, Millfield and Carleton Green schools. AGC Chemicals also sponsors the ‘Green Hero Awards’, Lancashire’s awards event dedicated to environmental concerns and improvements by schools.
