Going yellow for St Catherine's Hospice fete day

A county hospice is holding a family fun day to raise funds for its services for terminally ill people and their families.

St Catherine’s Hospice is hosting a Yellow Day garden fete with garden games, a bouncy castle and a visit from the Disney princesses.

The grounds of the hospice will be decorated with hundreds of yellow ribbons, each bearing a message from someone who has lost a loved one.

Each ribbon includes the name of the person a donation has been pledged for, with money raised going to support the specialised care of the hospice.

There will be a host of activities on offer, plus a display of army vehicles at the event on Sunday, June 19, in the grounds of the Lostock Hall hospice.

St Catherine’s head of
trading, Rachel Hewitt, said: “Yellow Day is always a great day out for the whole family with plenty of crafts and gift stalls, games such as the ever popular hook-a- duck, a bouncy castle, inflatable slide, treasure hunt, tombola and delicious food – there’s something for everyone!

“We’re looking forward to welcoming members of the community into the grounds of St Catherine’s Park to enjoy the range of attractions, which also includes two interactive fun stations from Mad Science North West, and entertainment from the Preston Pipe Band.

“The day also offers an opportunity for the public to support the hospice, as proceeds from the event help us continue supporting people with life-shortening illnesses to receive specialist care and enjoy a good quality of life.”

The Mill Outside, the outside catering arm of the charity’s Mill café, will be cooking up a giant paella for fete-goers to enjoy.

The fete takes place from 11am to 4pm in the hospice grounds in Lostock Lane, Lostock Hall.

There will be limited parking on site and a shuttle bus service will be operating from Leyland Trucks on Croston Road provided by Walton’s Coaches.
