Get entries in for Christmas tree festival
The Winter Gardens is set to hold its annual Christmas Tree Festival once more this year.
Trees will be displayed in the Derham Lounge (opposite the Illuminasia attraction) and in the Grand Vestibule in front of the lounge on November 19 and 20.
Last year 90 trees went on display. They can be real, artificial or handmade, and will be judged by the public.
The event is being organised by the Winter Gardens Trust to raise money towards the restoration of the Grade II listed building.
Elaine Smith, of the Winter Gardens Trust, said; “This has proved to be one of our most popular fundraising events in the past.
“We do hope plenty of folk will be interested in joining us in making this Christmas Tree Festival once again an enjoyable success.
“After last year’s huge success we are expecting many more entries so ensure your place by returning the booking form as soon as possible.”
Entry costs £10 which will be refunded, and presented along with the prize, to the owners of the winning tree.
Entrants will need to install and decorate their tree on Thursday November 17 and remove it on Monday November 21 before 4pm.
A special entrance day for schools is to be arranged for Friday November 18.
Visitors will be able to view the festival between 11am and 4pm, admission £1 for adults and free for children, and Santa will be in his grotto in the Derham Lounge.
