New dates have been announced for Blackpool’s popular “Test Drive” pre-driving course.

With anyone aged 16 and above welcome and no provisional licence needed, the one-day courses help to give new drivers the perfect start.

The day consists of two hours in the morning discussing how to apply for a licence, preparing for the theory and hazard perception tests, as well as attitudes towards driving.

This is followed by three hours of practical driving with qualified driving instructors in a traffic free environment on a car park.

New dates – between March 30 and April 2 – have been announced with the course running at St George’s Academy on Cherry Tree Road, Marton.

Coun John Jones, Blackpool Council’s cabinet member for streets and transport, said: “These courses are a great way for young people to learn the basics of driving a vehicle so that when they start to take driving lessons they are not a complete stranger to being behind the wheel.”

The one-day course costs £30. Call (01253) 476182.
