Proposals to install alley gates at the rear of Wanstead Crescent, Marton, have been approved despite an objection from a member of the public.
Coun Amy Cross, cabinet member for community safety on Blackpool Council, approved the order after hearing the objection had been removed after the resident was told he would be given keys to the gates for all his family and friends, plus a portable bell.
The objector’s father spends most of the summer in the garden and people freely walk round the back to visit him.
It had been feared the gates would hinder their access.
The gates are required to boost security and help prevent fly-tipping, following 15 incidents of rubbish being dumped between October 2012 and October 2013.
Ward councillor Val Haynes supported the move to install alley gates.
