Garstang Show Field could be used to host rugby games, plans reveal
The rugby club has applied for planning permission to change the field’s use from agricultural to sporting. It would be used by the junior and ladies teams.
In papers filed with Wyre Council, it said ‘rapid expansion’ meant ‘an additional pitch is desperately required within the local area’.

Hide AdIt said the council had acknowledged the ‘lack of sports fields’ in the town, with a report saying the council ‘intends to support Garstang RUFC in their ambition to create a new rugby pitch at their ground.’
“The pitch would be used from September 1 to the end of April, the remainder of the time it will be used for hosting Garstang Agricultural Show or grazing,” it added.
Council planners have yet to make a decision on the club’s application.
