A FLEETWOOD man was thrown to the ground and repeatedly kicked by a gang as he walked home from a night out.

The 23-year-old was confronted by 11 people - 10 men and one woman - after leaving the Rafters Pub, on London Street, at 3.30am on Sunday.

He was approached by the group on Blakiston Street who immediately began to shout and swear at him before one of them grabbed his collar and threw him to the ground.

The man was then kicked repeatedly to the chest, arms, legs and back by the whole group causing bruising, scratches and small lacerations to his arms and torso.

Police are now appealing for anyone with information about the serious assault to come forward.

PC Andy Ward said: “The victim was treated at hospital and it is only by chance he was not seriously hurt.

“This was a completely unprovoked assault that occurred on a man who was alone, walking home from a drink at his local pub.

“I’d urge anybody that witnessed this incident or with any information about any of the individuals who could be responsible to call Lancashire Police on 101.”
