Wyre Council Coun Lesley McKay told The Gazette: “The event is being hosted by award-winning vocalist Tom McLeod and the theme this year is ‘builders’ to acknowledge the on-going Booths development which is really taking shape in Poulton.
“The Big Parade, headed by the award-winning Poulton Band, will set off from the civic centre car park at 12pm and will complete the route around the town centre, culminating in the Market Place.”
The crowning of the Gala Queen for 2015 will take place at 1pm followed by an afternoon full of singing, dancing and family entertainment.
Acts performing include the Poco Loco Samba band, Singleton Cloggers, acts from Blackpool Sixth Form College, Blackpool and Fylde Dance Academy and Happy Daize.
As part of the event, Cubbins funfair have arrived at Cottam Hall Playing Fields and will be open today from 1pm to 9.30pm and tomorrow from 1pm to 5.30pm.
Coun McKay added: “Poulton Gala is organised by a voluntary committee who work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure the event is such a huge success. The committee would like to pay a special thanks to all the traders who have supported the gala so generously this year. It really is great to see the community coming together to support such a historic and special event.
