Chris Curtis, local media marketing consultant from Johnston Press, is seeking to establish the new chapter in St Annes, said: “BNI is one of the great untold success stories of local business.

“With £20m in business acquired by referral through its chapters last year in Lancashire alone, the numbers tell their own story.

“One of the reasons BNI stands out from other types of networking groups is we have proven procedures that ensure we take a proactive approach to generating a significant amount of business for each other.”

Established over 30 years ago, BNI now has over 200,000 members in over 70 countries worldwide.

It works by organising weekly networking meetings for groups of businesses, who use their own network of contacts to find business opportunities for one another.

Each group, or chapter, follows established networking processes to ensure the maximum amount of business is generated for members.

With ten chapters already operational in Blackpool, Preston, Chorley and East Lancashire, the new St Annes Chapter will effectively double the number of chapters on the Fylde Coast.

“One of those procedures is the Thank You for the Business box, passed around each week, which is how we monitor the amount of business generated. Several chapters in Lancashire already generate well over one million pounds of business a year and all have a target of two million.”

The inaugural meeting will be held at the Best Western Glendower Hotel, North Promenade, St Annes, Wednesday, June 22 from 6.45am to 9am.
