Fylde RFC 22 Bury St Edmunds 33
An inexperienced Fylde side let slip a healthy first half lead as they fell to defeat against their Cambridgeshire rivals.
Fylde led 22-7 at half-time, crossing for four tries by Henry Hadfield, Jake Foster, Tom Grimes and George Brookes, only one of then being converted by Danny Carlton.
Bury St Edmunds' response was a try by Yasin Browne, converted by Max Navas.
It was a completely different story in the second half when Fylde were completely subdued and could not muster a single meaningful attack as Bury St Edmunds assumed attacking control.
Within four minutes of the re-start Bury St Edmunds pulled a try back - Carlton's careless pass was picked up by Dwayne Corcoran, who scooted over for an interception try (22-12).
On 63 minuttes he Fylde line was breached in the next attack with a try by number eight Tui Uriu, goaled by Liam McBride (22-19)
Three minutes later the visitors took the lead for the first time when fumbling uncertainty in the Fylde defence let in Matt Harrison for a try, converted by McBride (22-26)
In the fifth minute of added-on time, Bury St Edmunds rounded off their scoring with a try by McBride, which he himself converted.
It was Fylde's second defeat in friendlies - they had lost to Sedgley Park the previous week.
