A Fylde coast engineering firm is celebrating after being shortlisted for the European Business Awards '“ and being named in its Ones to Watch list.

Independent, family-owned Helical Technology specialises in devices for the automotive industry and large diesel engines.

The company has been shortlisted in the UK category for Business of the Year with Turnover €26m-€150m and has also been named in the Ones to Watch list which sets a benchmark of success for the European business community.

The firm, founded more than 50 years ago to make springs and with its HQ in Lytham and testing facility at Warton, has become noted for its design and manufacture of acoustic and EGR exhaust valves, valve rotators and actuators.

It has operations as China and India.

The European Business Awards is Europe’s largest cross-sector business competition, recognising the exceptional achievements of 34 countries, which demonstrate innovation, success and ethics.

The UK winners of the awards will be announced in London tomorrow with the European grand finale taking place in May 2018.

The Business of the Year with Turnover €26m-€150m will go to the outstanding companies that best demonstrate exceptional financial returns, strong growth and innovation strategies, and market leadership in its sector.

Judges will look for evidence of inventiveness, ethical credentials, good stakeholder relationships and long term planning balanced by the flexibility to deliver consistent results in dynamic market conditions.

Alistair Morris, managing director of Helical Technology, said they were thrilled with the news.
