John Lonsdale, of the University of Central Lancashire, said the business community needed to continue its support to the leaders to help them to inspire their workforces to deliver growth.

UCLan is sponsoring the Business Person of the Year category at this year’s Be Inspired Business Awards, the BIBAs. It is also a partner of the awards in its BIBAs Academy, a package of masterclass talks by business leaders, workshops and networking events, all aimed at supporting former winners of the awards.

The awards is close to completing its first round of interviews with hundreds of applicants from across Lancashire. Mr Lonsdale said: “When we talk about the growth, creativity and diversity of our business community, we need to remember it is the people behind the companies which make all these things happen.

At UCLan, we meet business leaders from all kinds of companies and see those more established members of our business community going out of their way to support and mentor them.”
