Fury falls on deaf ears over hotel bid

A MASSIVE expansion plan for a country hotel is set to be given the green light today.

The Villa, in Wrea Green, want to expand by building a brand new function suite and more bedrooms, as well as a new parking area and staff facilities.

And Fylde councillors are being recommended to approve the ambition plans when they meet today.

The application has won support from Ribby-with-Wrea Parish Council, who believe the scheme will “enhance the property and ensure the sustainability of this rural business”.

But 15 local residents have voiced objections, raising concerns about the size of the extension, possible noise problems and an increase in traffic.

But planning officer Andrew Stell is recommending the application be given the go-ahead.

In a report to councillors he stated: “The benefits of the development in terms of its contribution to the local economy are an important factor in favour of the development.”
