George, the charity’s sun safe children’s character, also made an appearance.

Michelle was appointed regional Charity Ambassador for Skcin, a national charity solely dedicated to skin cancer, two months ago.

She said: “Seven people die a day of skin cancer and the shocking statistics show over the past 25 years cases have risen faster than any other skin cancers.

“Over 85 per cent of cancers are caused by over exposure to the sun, meaning the disease is largely preventable.

“Education and early detection is key.”

The charity has a team of dedicated volunteers supporting Skcin’s objective and provides local hospitals with materials to help educate the public in sun safety.

Marie Tudor, business development manager for Skcin, said: “I would like to thank Michelle for putting on the event. Thanks also go to everyone locally who has supported her and the many kind people donating their time and prizes.”
