Thornton-Cleveleys Band has had a busy summer season performing at galas, concerts and private functions.
The musicians also competed in the National Championships at Cheltenham Racecourse, which was held at the end of last month.
Seventy-four representatives from the eight contesting regions of the country made their away to the famous racecourse to compete at the 2017 National Finals.
Thornton-Cleveleys Band with their conductor Stephen Craig were performing in the Fourth Section and were hoping to better the result they achieved at the event last year.
The piece ‘Petite Suite de Ballet’ was written by Eric Ball in 1949 for the Third Section National Finals.
President Howard Midgley said: “Although the band gave a solid performance it wasn’t good enough on the day to persuade the adjudicators to place us in the prizes.
“Although the band and their supporters were disappointed, they didn’t let it spoil the weekend.
“Due to the contesting results at other local contests, the band has been promoted and will therefore be competing in the Third Section next contesting season.”
The band has a full diary of events leading up to Christmas performing at Thornton Little Theatre on October 15 and December 15, St John’s Church in Thornton on December 13, Cleveleys Park Methodist Church on November 25, Fleetwood Christmas Markets at Marine Hall on November 19 and other private functions.
