Friends come together for the love of Jo

Nursery staff came together to support a young mum diagnosed with incurable cancer.

Wellwishers from a collective of five nurseries across Blackpool set out to raise cash for a legacy fund for the children of the 37-year-old mum-of-two.

The former manager of Little Angels Nursery, in Fredora Avenue, Marton, was diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer.

Five nurseries in the Childs Play Nursery chain - Moorevilla, Highfield, Meadows, Hawes Side and Little Angels - joined forces in the ‘For The Love of Jo’ event to raise £2,500 which will go into a trust fund for her children.

It was held at Moorevilla on Midgeland Road, Marton on Saturday.

Organiser Natalie Palfrey said: “We are over the moon with how much money has been raised.

“We just cannot believe it.

“It was such a lovely day and we couldn’t have hoped for a better result.”

The day consisted of an abundance of activities, including a bouncy castle, donkey rides, face painting and a tombola, as well as accompaniment from a DJ.

The raffle is said to have been the biggest money spinner, generating three­quarters of the total, with businesses thanked for prize donations.
