THERE’S nothing like a cup of tea–especially if it’s free.

Joanne Adams and the team from First Steps Community Centre in Blackpool enjoyed a special tea party with 20 members of the pensioners club at The Imperial Hotel.

Mrs Adams said: “The cost of running and upkeep of the club is being put under strain due to cutbacks on our funding, and people are reluctant to donate given the current economic climate. We’re very grateful to the Imperial, and companies like Marks and Spencer who let us raise money.

“For most of our members the centre is their only lifeline as they have little family. It’s a great opportunity for them to socialise and break out of the routine.”
