Shoppers in Fylde are set for a boost this Christmas after Fylde Council revealed it was to bring back its free parking scheme.
Free Christmas parking was first introduced by the authority five years ago to encourage shoppers to spend money in local shops.
Next month all Fylde Council’s car-parks, in town centres and elsewhere, will be free on December 6 and 7, December 13 and 14 and December 20 and 21.
Coun Albert Pounder, Fylde Council cabinet member for customer and operational services, said: “We are keen to encourage spending money in the borough to help our local economy.
“We have some first-rate shops in our borough. Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for them and we want to see them continue to prosper and boost the local economy.
“The town centres have been very busy in each of the last five years.”
