The former YMCA community centre, beside the Civic Centre in Breck Road, Poulton, could become a new school, plans lodged with Wyre Council have revealed.

Headteacher Andrew Murray from McKee College House, a pupil referral unit also on Breck Road, said in paperwork no physical change to the building is planned, though consent for a change of use is needed.

The 0.75 acre site, close to the junction with Parry’s Way and Station Road, had previously been marketed for sale and to let.

McKee College House works with the council and schools to teach pupils who have been excluded, are more than 23 weeks pregnant, new to the area but need assessment before being placed in mainstream education, are medically unfit to attend school, or are missing classes for any other reason.
