A FORMER Blackpool FC player has been placed on a Sex Offending Prevention Order.

District Judge Jeff Brailsford granted the three month interim order against Alan Burrows after the court was told the police Burrows posed serious concerns over being a risk to children.

Burrows, 70, of Highfield Road, South Shore, a former captain of the Youth Cup team who appeared once for the senior team, will be the subject of the order until September 13 when the issue will return to court and Lancashire Police prosecutor Sue McLane said they would be asking for a full order.

Trevor Colebourne, defending, said his client accepted the interim order but would contest the making of a full order at the resumed hearing.

The judge told Burrows he must have no contact with children under the age of 16.

Burrows played for the Seasiders between 1959 and 1960 and knew Sir Stanley Matthews before being transferred to a team in Rhodesia.
