A FORMER teacher at Rossall School is facing child rape charges.

Robert Anthony Brunskill, 65, who now runs at PR company in Penrith appeared before Carlisle Crown Court charged with four offences against a boy.

Two involve rape when the child was under 16 and another when he was under 13. He is also charged with inciting the boy to engage in sexual activity when he was under 13.

Brunskill, of Salkeld Dykes, Cumbria, is alleged to have committed the offences between December 2007 and December 2010.

He has not yet entered pleas to any of the charges but appeared in custody at the crown court for a plea and case management hearing.

The hearing was adjourned until May 26 at the request of defence barrister Kim Whittlestone.

He was remanded in custody and no application was made for bail.

Mr Brunskill is a member of Eden Council and is a former chairman.

He run the 4-Square PR company which he set up in the 1980s after a career as an international rally driver.

On leaving school he spent two years at theological college before training for education at Durham University and eventually spent 10 years teaching at Rossall.
