Food fest serves up mouthwatering treats

Fleetwood’s Marine Hall was the place to be for food, glorious food at the weekend.

A record turn-out of 5,000 people enjoyed this year’s Fylde Coast Food and Drink Festival, which is becoming established as a real crowd puller for the town.

The venue was transformed into a culinary paradise on Sunday, with a mouth-watering selection of cheeses, chutneys, meats, cakes, chocolates, jams, pies and puddings in the hall itself.

There were also tempting wines, delicious ciders, specialist coffees and traditional teas will also be there for the tasting.

Staff from Twelve Restaurant in Thornton were up on stage with a number of tasty demonstrations.

Outside in the Marine Gardens, there was face-painting and a bouncy castle to keep the youngsters happy, in addition to hot food and music from Thornton Cleveleys Brass Band.

Gary Bullen, operations manager for Wyre Theatres, said: “This event is growing from strength to strength and putting Fleetwood on the culinary map.

“We were lucky with the weather, which really helped to pull people in.

“We’ve had brilliant feedback about the day and we’d just like to thank all our suppliers for making it such a success.”
