Last week, David Cameron announced funding to help councils offer council tax or business rate relief where properties have flooded due to the storms since December 1.

But a Wyre Council spokesman said: “There were only a handful of properties flooded in Wyre and, due to that, the impact of the tax relief scheme will be minimal.”

Blackpool Council said it had no estimates of how many properties were affected but there had been no enquiries about tax relief.

A Fylde Council spokesman said he was not aware of any properties in the borough that would qualify for the scheme.
