Richard Taylor, from The Regent Cinema in Church Street, said he will show the 15-rated film from 7pm on Friday, June 2.

He said: “This is really good news. I couldn’t believe a movie filmed and set in the town wasn’t being screened here, so I got in touch with the right people.

“We’re going to have a Q&A session with some of the people behind the film before the screening too, and I think this will do well.”

The cinema can hold 144 people, and tickets will cost £7 each, Mr Taylor added.

Low budget Brit flick Away was released into limited cinemas on Friday, and is out on DVD today.

Harry Potter star Spall and Juno Temple, of The Dark Knight Rises fame, play lost souls Joseph, in mourning over the death of his wife, and Ria, on the run from an abusive relationship.

Their paths collide in Blackpool, and Away charts their blossoming relationship in a ‘story of love, of loss, and of hope played out against the magical backdrop of Blackpool’.

The film was slated for a late 2015 or early 2016 release but, despite showing to audiences at the 70th Edinburgh Film Festival last year, it has only now secured a cinema run.
