BES, which currently employs more than 200 staff on the Fylde coast, has pledged more careers following a successful two-day recruitment event at the start of May.

Managing Director Andy Pilley – who is also the chairman of Fleetwood Town Football Club – already employs around 700 people in the area through various businesses.

The town’s Jobcentre branch is now working in partnership with BES to provide the jobs at a time when unemployment in Fleetwood is a major issue.

Customer service manager at Fleetwood Jobcentre, Joanne Wright, added: “We’ve been working really hard at the job centre to provide local jobs for local people.

“Working with BES Utilities is brilliant for the job centre and we look forward to developing our strong relationship with them.”

Mr Pilley said: “It gives us enormous pride to recruit local people and we’re keen to offer people not just a job, but a career at BES Utilities.

The response has been amazing and I’ve been really impressed with the quality of people interviewed.

“I cannot thank the job centre enough for their help. They’ve been brilliant with both the business and with the members of the public.”
