Flats plan for Blackpool hotel approved

Town hall planners have given permission for changes to be make to the Empress Hotel on Exchange Street in North Shore.

The scheme will see the demolition of a rear extension which will be replaced with a two storey extension for the proposed flats.

There will be eight two-bedroomed apartments and two single bedroomed flats.

A planning brief accompanying the application says the building has suffered from a lack of maintenance.

It adds: “It is proposed to renovate the frontage of the main building and retain the main entrance and staircase.

“The building will include extensive internal changes but no significant alterations to the existing principal elevations.”
