Five men arrested following 'overnight crime spree' in Hambleton

Five men have been arrested after concerned residents reported seeing a group of people trying car door handles in Hambleton this morning (January 5).

CCTV from homes in the area appears to show a group of men, who were wearing black clothes and hoods, trying to open the doors of cars and homes in Market Street, with the men also targeting homes in nearby Crookland Gardens, Arthur's Lane and Fairmont Drive.

Police began patrolling the area at around 4am, and they have now confirmed five men have been arrested for burglary and vehicle theft related offences.

Officers say they are also investigating a link to similar offences committed on Sunday, January 3 in Poulton-le-Fylde and Blackpool.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "The police are out patrolling as normal, so please remain vigilant and report anything suspicious."
