Wearing yellow bibs, volunteers picked up litter, power washed, and cleaned up shop fronts. They also put in new plants.

Chairman Jane Littlewood said: “Between us we have made a significant difference to the look of the town and at the same time encouraged people to be community minded.”

The group was set up using £10,000 of Government cash that was awarded in January. It has already coordinated a town centre retail questionnaire, which helped develop an action plan.

Team members include council representatives, business people, school staff, and church workers. See www.visitcleveleys.co.uk for more.
