A FYLDE woman with a horse care business is hoping to win an award for the third year on the trot.
Hannah Wild and her team at Supplement Solutions have been short-listed yet again in the annual British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) Business Awards.
The competition is hotly competed for by hundreds of firms across the UK.
Now Hannah must wait until later this month to see if she has cleared the final hurdle to put her internet company in the top spot three years in succession.
Although the nominations of customers helped take her into the finals, judges also asked Hannah’s suppliers and other contacts for their candid views of her business.
They also carried out “secret shopper” tests on her website – www.supplementsolutions.co.uk – which lists more than 5,000 nutritional supplements for keeping horses healthy.
The winners, for whom BETA say there were more than 4,000 nominations, will be announced at an awards ceremony on February 17 at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham.
Hannah, who is a keen rider and teacher, launched her business eight years ago after working as technical manager for a manufacturer of horse supplements in Lytham.
Finding that many horse owners wanted advice on keeping their animals in tip-top condition, she decided to quit her promising career to research which products were the most effective.
These Hannah put onto her website, and offered a telephone advice service for horse owners seeking help for conditions ranging from poor digestion to problems with hooves and joints.
Today, Hannah and her team supplies her products to customers by mail order, not just in Britain but also worldwide from the company’s base in the centre of Great Eccleston. She is once again up against some of Britain’s best-known and longest running businesses in the equestrian industry for the national BETA awards:
She said: “The best part of getting this far is that it’s our customers who have voted Supplement Solutions into the finals, based entirely on their experiences in dealing with us.
“Although we rely on the web for selling products, we’ve maintained a highly personal side to the business and are always keen to chat and offer advice.
“As we are just as big a horse lovers as our customers, it’s a perfect mix of business and pleasure!” .
Her Great Eccleston premises were officially opened just over a year ago by Ben Wallace, MP.
