Firefighters tackle van fire in Thornton

Fire crews are tackling a large van fire in Thornton this afternoon (Thursday, April 23).

The van caught fire in Victoria Road East, opposite the Workshop DIY store, at around 12.30pm.

Footage of the fire shows the white van engulfed in flames on a driveway which has led to thick clouds of black smoke in the area.

Neighbours said they were startled by the sound of the van's tyres exploding.

Initial reports say that o-one has been injured in the incident.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue have been approached for comment.
