Firefighters give first aid to casualty after bedroom fire in Blackpool

Two fire engines were called to the terraced property in Avenham Grove at 7pm last night.

When they arrived they found a first floor bedroom was on fire.

They used breathing apparatus, a hose reel and a ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.

A spokesman said: "One casualty was suffering from smoke inhalation and was treated by firefighters prior to the arrival of North West Ambulance.

"Firefighters were at the scene for one hour and 25 minutes."
