Fire crews tackle New Year's Eve house fire in Blackpool

Fire crews were called to a house fire in Blackpool last night, just hours before the resort ushered in the New Year.

Two fire engines from South Shore and Blackpool stations were called out at 6.49pm after a home caught fire in Tyldesley Road, near the Promenade.

Fire crews said the fire started in an upstairs bedroom of a residential property and one casualty was treated at the scene by ambulance crews.

A fire service spokesman said: "Two fire engines from South Shore and Blackpool were called to a fire in a bedroom of a domestic property on Tyldesley Road, Blackpool.

"Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire.

"One person was treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service staff."
